Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. Her career began with Broadway career in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. Her performance on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in a Play. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director, has spent the majority of her professional career working alongside well-known directors and actors on screen and in television. Ashford's upcoming project is an exclusive Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford has been engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is an Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will return to Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford played Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, which is based on the scandal that was involving Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the nation crisis. She was in two seasons on the hit CBS comedy B Positive. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin as well as Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie in You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Some other Broadway performances for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this role, she earned the Tony Award nomination. Ashford has been born in Denver, now spends time living in Los Angeles and New York.
