Audrey Tautou
Audrey Tautou, the oldest of four children, was born on 8 August 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de-Domme. Audrey's parents as a dentist as well as a teacher, understood and encouraged their daughter's love for drama and theater at an early stage. Their support was enough to overcome her original desire to become an animal scientist. There was an immediate rise for her to be a famous young actress. The beginning of her career came in 1999 when she started acting professionally. In the years following her studies, Tautou was a participant in the French talent scouting television programme Jeunes Premiers. Tautou attended the Institut Catholique de Paris, attended church in her youth and was raised Catholic. However she has now distanced herself with her Catholic upbringing. She pursued a modelling career alongside her acting career and is the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc and Chanel frequently referred to as the Chanel Muse. An avid photographer, she created a show in The Arles International Festival titled Superficial. Her photography is focused on celebrities, fame and the media who scrutinized her following her fame-making debut as Amelie. Also, she has numerous photographs of herself. Audrey Tautou's global popularity and success exploded following her role as Amelie Poulain's lead lady in Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain. Amelie made international waves at the box office and was awarded awards across all over the world. The film is still the top-grossing French language film to be released in the US. Later, in the same year, she appeared in British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things as well as Jean-Pierre Junet's Un long Sunday de Faancailles. In the following year, she moved to Hollywood in the United States, where Ron Howard directed the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code.
